All England Open: Marin wins a repeat championship

<p>In the All England Open final, Akane Yamaguchi was forced to retire, and Carolina Marin won the women’s singles championship. Due to a hip injury, the Japanese shuttler was unable to continue with the game in Marin’s favor at 26-24 10-1. In the semifinal, the 2022 champion and An Se Young faced off in three games.</p>

<p>Marin, who won in 2015 as well, did not lose a match while winning. “I’m really happy,” Marin said. “After a challenging week, I am incredibly proud of myself.”</p>
<p>With a 21-15, 21-14 victory, Jonatan Christie defeated fellow countryman Anthony Ginting to claim his first All England men’s singles championship. In addition to securing Indonesia’s first singles championship here since 1994, Christie earned his first Super 1000 title.</p>
