“I’ll see you in Riyadh,” Cristiano Ronaldo Responds Feistily to Al Ain Supporters Following Al Nassr Loss

Even though Cristiano Ronaldo may insist that the drama doesn’t adore him, it does. However, the Portuguese superstar seems to have been in the news lately—at least for the wrong reasons, as he engaged in yet another cruel demonstration with supporters last night.

In the first leg of their AFC Champions League quarterfinal match, Al Nassr fell to UAE’s Al Ain 1-0, making Ronaldo’s comeback to football an unhappy one.

In the 44th minute, just before halftime, Soufiane Rahimi gave Al Ain the lead with his solitary goal of the game and his sixth overall goal in the competition.

Conversely, Ronaldo’s performance was, to put it mildly, underwhelming. The Portuguese player found it difficult to turn any of the opportunities that came his way, particularly one that came from close range that he was unable to put in the goal.

The victory for the UAE team ended Al Nassr’s eight-match winning run and gave them the edge heading into the second leg of the Saudi Pro League.

Following the game, an enraged spectator began insulting the now-defeated Portuguese team with cries of “Messi, Messi” that echoed throughout the stadium. Ronaldo, making his way back down the tunnel, responded to the shouts by indicating that he would see them in Riyadh for the second leg.

The Saudi team will be relieved that Ronaldo refrained from speaking and maintained his composure since they do not now need another ban.

Ronaldo received a one-game suspension last week for reportedly making lewd gestures against Al Shadab supporters during Al Nassr’s 3-2 victory.

Following the game, the Al Shadab audience erupted in cries of “Messi, Messi,” directed at Ronaldo. The Portuguese player responded by cupping his ear and repeatedly pumping his palm in front of his pelvic region in the direction of the opposing supporters.

Ronaldo has faced backlash for his celebrations on previous occasions. A similar incident happened in April of last year when the Portuguese attacker seemed to touch his genitalia as he was making his way to the bench during an Al Hilal match in the Saudi Pro League where Al Nassr lost 2-0.

He tossed away an Al Hilal scarf that was hurled at him from the fans earlier this month as he made his way to the tunnel after Al Nassr’s 2-0 loss in the Riyadh Season Cup final. He had scooped it up and placed it in his shorts.
