Siddharth Anand responds to the accusation that the Fighter teaser is anti-Pakistan: “It seems more patriotic than jingoistic.”

The movie Fighter, starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, will be released on Thursday. According to an India Today article, director Siddharth Anand was asked about the action movie’s trailer being called “jingoistic” at a recent Fighter event. Soon after its release earlier this month, Pakistani celebrities Adnan Siddiqui, Hania Aamir, and others criticized the Fighter teaser. Siddharth said at the most recent event that Fighter opposes terrorism rather than other nations.

“Fighter is an American movie.”
Siddharth Anand commented on the teaser for Defending Fighter, saying, “You do throw out a few phrases in the trailer. You are unable to see the whole movie. So why do you intend to attend a theater? In order to get people to come see the movie, you do raise some issues and generate some controversy. Therefore, our trailer has fulfilled that very purpose. Thus, I’m glad it accomplished that in a manner. They are now curious, and I would advise them to visit theaters so that all of their inquiries may be addressed. You’ll comprehend the feelings and substance of it.”

About Fighter, Siddharth Anand said, “That’s what our film stands for, to fight against terrorism.” We’ve emphasized this through Fighter, and you’ll understand after you see it. The Fighter teaser seems to be more patriotic than jingoistic, in my opinion. Some information is only being removed from its context. Once again, I would advise seeing the movie beforehand. I don’t want to start a bunch of pointless disputes. Fighter is an upbeat Indian movie. It’s Bharat’s film, Bharat ki film hai. The movie is nationalistic.

Siddharth’s response to Hania Aamir-related comments
Director Siddharth Anand seems to have responded to Pakistani actors who expressed dissatisfaction with the way Pakistan was portrayed in the teaser for Fighter. He responded to a tweet regarding Hania Aamir’s most recent Instagram Stories with a contemplative face emoji.

The tweet said, “Did she really work on an anti-Indian movie? Why do Pakistani celebrities worry so much about the anti-Indian things that their Indian counterparts do in films if Indian celebrities don’t mind?”

It is quite regrettable and depressing to realize that there are artists in this day and age who continue to fuel the tension between the two nations while being aware of the influence that movies have. I have sympathy for artists who attempt to close the gap by using their work as a vehicle for communication. Hania Aamir posted on Instagram Stories shortly after the Fighter teaser was unveiled on January 15, saying, “Disgusting; let art breathe.”
